Thank you for taking the time to visit our web site! We hope that what you find here will be a blessing to you. On this main page you'll find "news" and updates concerning the web pages located here, as well as an occasional thought or two we might have regarding any number of different topics. Most likely the subject matter will be centered around the current content of this web site, most if not all of which you can access via the menu shown on the left-hand side of this and every page.
So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all men. - Galatians 6:10a
While I (Joel) must admit that at first the purpose for my having my own web site was for personal enjoyment, now the primary reasons I have created and continue to maintain the web pages posted here is for my wife, our family, for visitors such as yourself, and above all (I hope and pray) to serve God. Perhaps this is only a small way in which I can help others and fulfill one of the Lord's purposes for my life, but I am very thankful for it. We hope that it proves to be a benefit to you in whatever ways the Lord makes possible. May God bless you!

I know it's hard to fathom, but yes, we actually have more updates on our web site to make note of. After more than a year we've finally scanned in and placed online all the remaining portrait photos of Joy (we were stuck at five months for a long time, but now have all the way through her two year picture available). We've also begun posting Selah's portrait pictures, too. Go ahead and take a look...you know you want to!

Believe it or not, we're still here (as much as a lack of updates for seven months would seem to prove otherwise)! As you can imagine, while it was hard to update our web site with one child, it's near impossible to do so with two. However, as a sort of Thanksgiving treat we've finally been able to get some updates in place. Check 'em out below:

For any technophiles who may drop by our site, we have added a new network layout to our network diagrams page. Feel free to take a look at the AVLAN setup and post your thoughts, questions, and/or feedback.

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses,
let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and
let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus,
the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him
endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand
of the throne of God. - Hebrews 12:1-2

While we're still working on adding more photos of Selah post-hospital, we have posted smaller versions of her hospital-taken photos (along with Joy's newborn photos) here. We'll try and get new pictures of both our girls added to our gallery in the weeks to come.

Our second little girl is here! Selah Belle Shoemaker arrived at 3:47 AM this morning at Gwinnett Medical. She weighed 8 lbs. even and is 19 1/2 inches long. Both baby and mommy are doing very well. We're hoping to be heading home sometime Saturday.

(In case you were wondering, Selah [see-luh] is often used in the Bible - especially in Psalms - and means "stop", "listen", "pause", "meditate", "think about it"; and Belle is "beautiful" in French.)

Just as when Joy arrived a little less than 19 months ago, we are so thankful and so blessed. God is good...all the time! If you would like to take a look at some early photos of Selah, we have placed some online within our photo gallery. Note that we've also added 33 photos to our Winter 2009 album. Hope you enjoy them all!

Finally! More updates!! As our new baby will be here very soon (it is due tomorrow), we thought we would post as many updated photos, along with web page updates, as we could prior to its arrival (because we doubt we'll have any free time once we have two little ones at home). That being the case, here is a list of what has been added:
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness;
and all these things shall be added unto you. - Matthew 6:33

Well, after fairly consistent updates for most of 2008 (at least through September), we've now gone over four months without one. Putting that behind us...happy 2009! Joy is now a little over 17 months old and we're less than 6 weeks away from having her little brother or sister arrive. Thankfully all four of us are doing well; we've just been very busy (like always). Eventually we'll get some photos taken over the last few months added to our gallery - yes, including Joy's 1st birthday photos - but until then, in case you were wondering, here's a quick summation of what's been going on in our lives:

Harvest Day Thanksgiving Christmas New Year's
Joy climbs Joy walks More teeth for Joy More talking
by Joy
Sunday School get-together Work on home Preparation for new baby Sleep
(not enough)

Happy 13 months to Joy! While her actual birthday photos are yet to be posted (we'll try and get them online soon), we have added a good number of pictures of her (as well as mommy and daddy) taken during the latter part of this past Summer. We've also finally added all the shots from our trip to Chicago. So, when you have a little time to spare, be sure to browse through them!

A brief, but extremely important update: we're having another baby! Take a gander at our new baby's ultrasound pictures here. Needless to say, God is good! All the time!! (Note: We still plan on adding more monthly photos of Joy; we just have to get them scanned in. All our snapshots from our Chicago trip will soon be posted, too. So, keep checking back!)

Happy Independence Day! It's been three months to the day since our last update, but we've finally been able to add some more pictures to our photo gallery. The new albums are Spring 2008 and Summer 2008. Hopefully we'll soon be adding more portraits to Joy's monthly photos as well. Stay tuned! In the meantime, Happy Fourth of July! Remember Who to give thanks to for the gift of our free country. God is gracious!

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. - 2 Corinthians 3:17b
